I was not impressed at all with this hospital. Especially day surgery. my wife was moved and no one came to the wait area to inform me she was moved left me sitting there 2 hours after her surgery was completed. The Salem State nursing student that was with her OR nurse had a nose ring in. As a healthcare professional I dont believe that is appropriate, or cleanly. it would be interesting to see infection rates. since when did body jewelry become acceptable? disgusting for both the hospital and Salem State!

This used to be my hospital of choice. Great staff, very patient care and safety oriented. However, I have noticed significant change since Lahey took over. Quality of care has greatly diminished. Cleanliness is now questionable. I recently was put into a room in the ED that had two USED blood culture bottles from the previous patient! On the counter was a venipuncture set and a full saline flush syringe! When I brought it to the attention of a nurse, she seemed underwhelmed. My twins were born a month early and had to spend 13 days in Winchester Hospital’s NICU. I can’t thank the nurses enough for everything they did for our girls. They are incredible and you can tell they love what they do.
I have been dealing with the billing department for 4 months trying to get a refund. I have never been a patient at this hospital, but when I accidentally called the wrong hospital (there is a Winchester, Virginia as well) I somehow paid on a bill of someone else. Once I caught the mistake I have been calling the billing department every week for at least 10 weeks to get my refund without success. A supervisor is never available and never returns my call. I still have yet to receive a refund from my April payment!
It's an amazing hospital with a great staff. When I was pregnant with my twins and thought one wasn't going to make it they took me under their wing and gave us the best care possible. I ended up carrying my girls full term and they're now 8 years old!
FRADULENT BILLING PRATICES !!! This hospital is FRAUD, and will give you FRADULENT bills for services not performed. Or simply overcharge you without proper explanation. After lots of discussion, if they ever left with no choice, they will shamelessly admit that they make an error, but still ask for remainder of the money. In all, if you options, don’t go here. You’ll be DISAPPOINTED to see their FRADULENT & INFLATED BILLS.
