Excellent place to visit
We visited the castle whilst in holiday with friends, 4 adults and 4 children 3 & under. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! There was so much to see in the castle itself and interact with the 10p curiosities! The dungeons were hilarious in an endearing way. The water and light show set the kids up for what to expect around the rest of the grounds. The rides were so much fun, a highlight being the toboggan. Very good day out. Lots of entertainment. It does say online the castle isn't wheelchair or pram accessible but I'd say you need good strong legs for the hills and some of the bits after the castle are hard to get too with a pram. Take carriers if you can rather than prams
Who is this catering for? Our 3 year old cried (as did most we spoke with) the entrance is scary for little ones. The main entrance and path to the outside is full with creepy puppets and the eerie music is blasted at unhealthy levels. Almost every kid was petrified. The water show was broken, lop sided with lights missing. The rides are poor. Overpriced. The leaflet gives the appearance of a large park its rather cramped. Really good place to visit. Good museum, dungeons and little cafe. Cream tea included in the price. Unfortunately, although notified when booking, they couldn't do a gluten free scone, allegedly because of cross contamination. However, they could offer (the obligatory) gluten free brownie, or flapjack.
