Watassa has been an excellent landlord for us, and Francis in particular has always been very helpful. Living in an old apartment building, we have had our fair share of leaks, appliance issues, etc. When we've notify Francis, we get a response quickly and the issue is generally fixed by the following day. Overall, we are very pleased with the attention and service that we've gotten from Watassa.
Management is on point. Email whenever an issue comes up and management is prompt to respond, usually fixing the problem (bulb replacing, leaky faucet, etc) by the next day. Wish these guys implemented an electronic rental payment collection, somewhat primitive to still have to mail the rent each month.
Watassa manages the apartment I live in, which is in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. Francis, is the person at Watassa that I have worked with always. He is very responsive and handles problems quickly. The apartment has had water leaks various time but the leaks are fixed promptly. On one occasion, it took almost a month but this was due to the fact that it wouldn't stop raining and his technician was out-totally not his fault. On another occasion I disputed a late rent charge because they had not received the check I ha... read more
Responsive and connected – Watassa manages our condo association and maintenance of our building, which is over a hundred years old. The association was previously terribly run, and my experience with Watassa has been an improvement. I primarily deal with Francis, who has been responsive in a timely way to a variety of problems. From vermin problems to water leak repair, Francis promptly contacts directly or sends contact information to me for the appropriate serviceman to resolve the issue. He gets the job done.
Relatively good – At first, we had some miscommunication, but at the end everything has gone smoothly and I do not have any major complaints. Although they are not the best property managers, they do what they can, which is more than enough considering the low rent. I wouldn't mind to continue with them. I just got used, and it was fine.
Helpful and Understanding – In my experience Watassa Management has been a helpful and understanding property management company. They have always been extremely responsive to all requests for maintenance and have even gone the extra mile, when we the tenant had clearly goofed. For example, our mailbox had a broken lock and after kindly replacing the lock, I lost the new keys only a week or so after. I called Watassa back, explained the situation, and honestly expected to be billed for my error. They were understanding about... read more
Watassa... – I've read the past reviews and although I don't totally disagree w/ some of the comments I don't think Watassa deserves such a poor rating... I've had a few problems w/ my apartment and whenever I complain to management they seem to be pretty responsive. I usually deal w/ Francis and he has always pulled through. The best thing to do is communicate w/ them via email. Lets get real...the rent trumps everything...some of my friends pay double what I pay. I'd recommend this management company...you just have to be ... read more
Aboslutely Awful – I can't help but agree with the other posters. This company is terrible. They lied about nearly everything before we moved in, including issues with heating and noise that have made the apartment literally unbearable. You're lucky if they don't ignore you outright when you have serious issues, and I can guarantee that they won't actually take any steps to solve the slew of problems that will come with whatever disaster area they try to rent to you. Find someone else to rent from.
Extremely helpful – I have to disagree with the reviews below. Watassa is a small management company, but they really helped me out. I found them when looking for a flat right after mine was made unavailable by a massive fire. Watassa had other interested people, but they gave the unit they were going to put on the market to me. They also allowed me moving unit within the building. I could upgrade to a larger apartment with virtually no rent increase. I met Jim, but I actually dealt with Francis all this time. He is really a... read more
