Where do I start with hotel…. Room smelt of mould, towels dirty , Scribble marks on the head board and curtains that looked like they’d seen better days. When we raised this, staff came back with fresh towels and a can of air freshener saying that the room couldn’t smell of mould sad it had recently been painted. I must need a trip to spec savers as the room was most definitely not freshly painted. No hot water this morning and breakfast restaurant closed. That was the best place that I booked in Hitchin. The place that I like because of an amazing hospitality, room service and the staff are cooperative in addition the location is very close to all shops, restaurants and other activities.

Legitimate health and safety concerns whilst there . Room 7 . Left in the early hours 2.45am of a one night stay because we were affected by an odour in our room which built up as the night progressed. Resulting in nausea and a burning sensation in mouth and nostrils . Reported to the out of hours staff but dismissed by the hotel staff . Repeatedly tried to communicate concerns with them . The very best welcome and check-in I've had anywhere. Friendly, happy, quick and helpful. Room is perfect. Bathroom with separate bath and shower. Everything works. Enormous bed is incredibly comfortable, aircon very welcome in this heat. Brilliant location in the heart of a friendly, upbeat little town.

Ok so had booked this room for one night, we had been warned (by friends) that we had to visit the restaurant next door to check in. We were then walked to our room next door top floor…. Shown how to use key (no issues so far) … soon as in room it’s pointed out to us that we have the fire exit in our room (room 18 if you want to avoid) and there’s nothing she can do about the light then left.
