We are a fourth generation family business. Valpo Velvet was started in 1947 and we still use the formulas that Herb and Gordon Brown perfected with the help of their degrees of Dairy Engineering from The University of Wisconsin. We still make all ice cream fresh weekly from scratch on the premises.

The homemade chicken soup that my family and I had the other day, was simply out of this world! It reminded me so very much of the soup from my childhood. I didn't expect a trip down memory lane, but a pleasant trip it was!

Great business. The ice cream and service is superb. The owners are super nice and so are the workers. If you're looking for some great ice cream and a place just to hang out with your friends, go to Valpo Velvet. You won't regret it! It's a family owned business and I love the family.
The first time at the Valpo Velvet this past summer I had a great experience, not so much tonight. We went in for a treat this evening and I ordered a hot caramel sundae and what I received was a small scoop of ice cream with a cold golf ball sized lump of brown goo. The young man heated up some fresh caramel a few minutes later and I was a little irritated. I gave him a chance to redeem himself and asked if he made a good phosphate?
