We are a fourth generation family business. Valpo Velvet was started in 1947 and we still use the formulas that Herb and Gordon Brown perfected with the help of their degrees of Dairy Engineering from The University of Wisconsin. We still make all ice cream fresh weekly from scratch on the premises.

My very first job was at Valpo Velvet. It was a fun, friendly atmosphere with awesome food and the best ice cream in the world. 30 years later, it's still got the same qualities!!! My whole family loves Valpo Velvet and it will always hold a special place in my heart (I still call it Brown's Dairy)
