About this business

Latin and Mediterranean cuisines have been independently appreciated all over the world. Not surprising then, that Valanni decided to have the best of both worlds and opted for a Latino-Med menu. The result is that bite-sized tapas, paellas, red mussels and grilled octopus, hummus and pita bread—all can be found on one menu. Located in the arts district of Philadelphia, Valanni could not have asked for a clientele more open to exploring new tastes, as the one that frequents this quarter. The wine list represents world ... read more

Oustanding dinner, great night! – The only downside of the evening (and not a big one) was the waiter starting off our night by forgetting the specials, as well as the end of the night when no fewer than four different busboys asked to take away our food. The food - mussels roma style, duck with cherry and orange, and seared tuna - was fantastic. The meat and fish were cooked perfectly and paired with great garlic mashed potatoes, with the chefs paying extra attention to properly-proportioned sauces come plating time. My ahi... read more

ROMANTIC & OFF THE BEATEN PATH – I stumbled onto Valanni 3 years ago after a show and since then have found the food and service consistently above the mark in every way. It is a romantic yet unpretentious place. I always see a nice mix of young and hip twenty somethings alongside theatre-goers and business-people alike. The servers/bartenders are genuinely friendly and the food outstanding. I think the steak is the best in the city!

Unfortunate experience – I had high hopes, based on several reviews. The mussels appetizer and sangria were delicious. Unfortunately, it stopped there. My dining companion's duck was rubbery and dry. The lamb I ordered was overcooked. The rapini were undercooked (undercooked broccoli raab is an appetite killer). The lamb's accompaniments were overseasoned, salty and soggy. I ate a bite of everything and had the waiter take the food away. The waiter was surly. Wary of the menu now, when I ordered coffee for dessert (not Turki... read more

Vallani Hits the Mark – Went to Vallani for Restaurant Week and my experience, along with my friends, was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be going back! I had the guacomole salad (tortilla) which was very good, but nothing special. The artichoke and spinach ravioli was a pleasant surprise with an excellent summer broth and mixed vegetables on top. The surprise, the chocolate mousse was the best I have had. We sat outside so I cannot comment on the ambience. Sitting on Spruce was nice but the foot tra... read more

Our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. – We have nothing but praise in all categories for this restaurant near our home. The amazing this is how consistent the food and service are - and we go once a week. The only negative is that Valanni has spoiled us for new restaurants. We often say of a new place, this is good - but not as good as Valanni.

indulge – Thats what the menu stated and thats what we did. I had the worlds best sangria at Valanni. My boyfriend had the ecstasy martini "very indulging". The food was incredible "you must try the duck or the tuna" The ambiance was sexy and the server was very experience. Caramelized black rum bananas for dessert "very very induling" Valanni is one of my new favorite restaurants in philadelphia...

Al Fresco is Dog Friendly! – Went there casual with a friend and my dear pup. The food was absolutely great, the service impeccable, and with a beautiful Fall weather day, the atmosphere was both romantic and idyllic. Of particular notice was the effort by the wait staff to ensure our comfort. I will go there again and again.

Waste of time – If you are looking for good latin or med food it is not to be found here. This is a trendy spot with bad food.Sorry to say it but these guys came from Audrey C which has great food, where did you go wrong guys???When a restaurant lets men in tank tops come in,well I think that sums it up.Big waste of time unless your drunk and hungry.

Waiters Demand 20+% tip – I went to Valanni with some friends for a nice evening meal but THAT IS NOT WHAT WE GOT. Although the service was extremely slow, the ambience was all right, and the food was decent, so we decided it was a pleasant evening overall... until after we paid for the meal. As we were getting ready to leave, the waiter comes out with the check and a calculator in his hand and asks "was everything all right, because you didn't tip me 20% tip!!! i mean i don't want to be a bitch or anything, but..." we stood... read more
