Oreo Beignets: To Die For! – There were a couple of slight drawbacks to our evening but overall the experience was very good. After a drink at the bar we were seated; we hadn't seen our friends recently and didn't dive into the menu. The BEST!!!!!!!!! – I love this place. The food is TO DIE FOR. Late night menu is great, service is great. prices are reasonable. I always get the Prince Edward Island Mussels - YUM! I think this menu item has a loyal cult following because it's so incredibly good. Fresh basil, fresh garlic, fresh mussels, fresh everything in it make it wonderful. Cute ambiance, usually pretty lively but not so much that it's annoying. Fantastic gayborhood gem that should be around for a while!
COOL PLACE! – I was at Valanni on the same night as 9/11 review and I just have to say our server and drinks rocked. The only drama being made was by that customer who made a much bigger deal of the situation then was needed. I will be back for fab drinks, food and music!
Best Brunch in the City!!! – If you haven't been here for brunch you are missing out on one of the "gems" in the city. Myself and a couple of friends had a great experience while dining last Saturday. The food was exceptional and the drinks were unique and tailored towards brunch. If you like champagne cocktails (that surpass the typical mimosa) or a kick butt bloody mary this is the spot. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great brunch!
Service Lacks Logic – I had heard great things about this place. I was VERY disappointed. I went on a Monday night to enjoy some house music. The music was all that was good about this place. Service was poor. We were a party of 3 sitting at a table and there was another table next to us (not adjacent) and our check was grouped with the other party's check. Nice to try something different – Our party of four had made reservations for a late dinner on a weekend night, and chose to sit outside, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere of the restaurant...but I can comment on the service! Sitting outside probably had a lot to do with it, but we often felt forgotten by our waiter (who forgot to leave cream with the coffee, or spoons with dessert, for example). Best Neighborhood Restaurant in Philly – What a cool place...great environment, good food at a reasonable price, great drinks and consistent. Whenever I have out of town guests we head to Valanni...even the hard to please Manhattan-ites love it. Also a great mixed crowd at Happy Hour, a nice place to unwind on weekday evenings.
Always a Great Meal – This delicious treat offers a great atmosphere and fantastic food. I have yet to experience a bad meal here. The lights are dim enough to create a romantic feeling but bright enough to eat by. Drinks have alway been mixed well and the crowd is diverse. Take your significant other with you enjoy the food & atmosphere.
Dangerous drinking – Being new to the city we'd never heard of Valanni, we randomply popped in early one Friday evening and were magically seated instantly(though I get the feeling we got really lucky). The drink menu was dangerous. We ordered 5 or 6 different cocktails and each was better than the last. I highly recommend the "Repeat Offender" & the "Valannitini". The food was fantastic as well, though we could have easily had a liquid dinner that evening......
