RecommendedThe staff today was very friendly on my first visit to the facility. I was asked once inside center did I need any help. Each office I went to was very helpful with questions I asked.
The problem with the Durham VA medical center is that when veterans live far out. They are required to go to the VA medical center if in fact they have to be hospitalized for any reason. The problem with that is that veterans families are unable sometimes to be able to travel that far to be able to support that particular veteran.

We recently moved here from Tucson, AZ. Our experience in Tucson was A-1 so, we were hesitant to go to another VA. However, we have been very impressed. Through-out the transition BOTH VAs kept in touch to make sure the transition was going smoothly and nothing was missed. Our new Oncologist, at Durham, was current on my husband's case and the staff could not be more considerate and helpful. Parking, at the moment, is a nightmare. However, that is being addressed. I am so thankful for the help with this ongoing pain. Dr. Keely Godwin (Women's Health) is wonderful. Dr. Strine (Neurologist) is too. They're both very good at listening, no matter how long I take, and they've been great at getting this ongoing pain under control so I can get back to work again. Many Many Thanks.
They have been awesome to me ever since I got out of the Army! I have never had a problem. They are right on point with everything. Today, they got me set up with a new CPAP machine with no questions asked or hassle! Also my doc Dr. Albergo, she’s amazing and caring! I definitely recommend the Durham VA to anyone in the area!
Please educate your staff who return calls regarding proper customer service and phone etiquette. I really felt like the nurse who called me was more concerned with checking the box on her clinical reminders (to meet a performance measure, I assume) and just by-passed everything I was saying as it pertains to the issue I tried to discuss. She kept guiding the conversation back to pieces that had been ruled-out and never actually listened to what I had to say.
