Today is my 6th birthday of my second chance at life. 6 years ago today I received my liver transplant at the University of Iowa Hospital. Thank you to the absolute best team of Doctors and Nurses of the Transplant Unit. I wish all of the best. Stay safe. Stay healthy. I had to go to Iowa city hospital and clinics for my non Hodgkins lymphoma and I beat it because of them
The staff, at all levels, is doing a great job to make patients feel as safe and comfortable as possible even with the heightened security measures. Seeing all the masks, face shields and protective gear is quite intimidating but everyone I came in contact with was smiling, kind and helpful in providing directions and guidance. They are working in a stressful work environment of "uncharted waters" but their emphasis is putting the patient at ease. Shout out to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Emergency Department for getting me in and out quickly while ensuring everyone’s safety regarding COVID-19! While I was chopping onions for dinner the onion slipped my finger under the knife. I sliced off half my nail and a small chunk of my finger! The nurse practitioner that cleaned me up and gifted me with this massive amount of gauze assured me everything should grow back in normally! I spent 2 weeks on 3RC east. The nurses, nurse aids, PT therapists, and all the drs I had contact with were great. Many times it felt as if it were family members taking care of me

best hospital... I was born at the University of Iowa i only weighed 2 pounds i have cerebral palsy i have been going to this hospital since 1967 with leg braces. and then in 2013 I found out I had breast cancer had surgery did radiation for 8 weeks Monday thru Friday. and then in 2016 it all came back but in different parts of my body. and I have to do chemotherapy for the rest of my life. I want to say thank you to my cancer team at the University of Iowa they are awesome ... and I will keep on fighting.
