After looking at website and reading reviews we thought this would be a good overnight stay. Sadly not. Our room was not the cleanest . The mattress had seen better days.The kettle leaked into the tea tray overnight and left tea bags etc floating. The lavatory cistern didn't refill. Staff did come straight up to put it right but it failed again later and then too late to call anyone. The outside areas looked grubby and unloved. Broke our journey south from Northumberland. Quirky. Friendly & attentive staff. Dinner was exceptional. Fabulous food & big portions. In current economic climate, hospitality venues are struggling. Good places like this need our support!
Sunday lunch was excellent, worth the drive to get there!!
Great pub, great food and always a great welcome!
