In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. My husband and I had a wonderful experience. It was warm enough to be able to enjoy the outdoor dining area, but the staff made us feel welcome to explore the indoor eating areas. So rare to be able to see a building built in 1779, much less dine there. We started with the baked Brie, very tasty. My husband ordered the rainbow trout and I ordered the scallops au gratin (very rich!). We both enjoyed salads with the orange balsamic vinaigrette.
