The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. I had stuffed filet mignon ... was delicious
Loved it! Great food and historic atmosphere. Group of 4 of us. We even got a tour of entire building. Highly recommend
I loved that the building is so old and historic and our waiter was perfect in his recommendations and the stories he told us about the building. The food was superior; filet medallions is what I ordered and my husband ordered a German dish with pork and he enjoyed it too.
