The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. Excellent dinner. Be sure to call for reservations! Service was awesome and prompt. Highlights: pumpkin spice beverage, salad with dill ranch dressing, lamb chops!
I had a fabulous dinner of Norwegian Smoked Salmon Appetizer, the freshest of salads & a delicious Grilled Trout. The NY Style Cheesecake with Caramel sauce was a perfect ending to a night of culinary delights. When there were no Uber’s available to return me to my hotel, Mrs Fuller volunteered and drove me herself. What a special night it turned out to be!! I highly recommend this lovely Historic Tavern, their delectable cuisine and it’s warm, welcoming staff.

The Tavern has always been my favorite restaurant in Abingdon over the past 25 years. I have had many dishes here over the years but the best is the Stuffed Filet.
