The Tavern restaurant in downtown Abingdon is a step back in time. Our beautiful old building was built in 1779 and is the oldest of Abingdon's historic structures. In its original inception, it was an overnight inn for stagecoach travelers, housing famous guests such as Henry Clay, King Louis Philippe of France, and President Andrew Jackson. RecommendedGREAT Filet and German food!
Ezra, our server, was a delight and very professional, yet personable. Atmosphere very nice and food was delicious. I didn't have room for dessert, but the creme brulee sounds amazing. Chicken and risotto and the stuffed filet were beyond our expectations. In and out within an hour on a Saturday night.
Went to The Tavern for the 1st time ever last night for a Christmas party at my husbands work Shreck Motors! We had a huge party of people and was waited on with care! The food was delicious! The building has history behind it and was really neat that the owner come out to talk to us and tell us all about the place.. dont wanna leave any spoilers incase u get to make it! Which I highly suggest!

Traveling to Tennessee and stopped in this beautiful historic town on a whim.best decision we made in a long time. Service here was the best I have had in years. Food was outstanding to say the least.
