Amazing experience! If you're ever in Estes Park, I highly suggest it! Ghost tour is worth it too!
A year and a half ago I took a picture of my daughter and grandson on the third floor of the hotel. When I looked at the picture there was the clearest genuine ORB in the hallway. I was fascinated by that! We always visit the Stanley when we go to Estes Park. It's a beautiful hotel!!!
The problem is that Stanley Hotel is "advertised" as the "Shining" hotel... but nobody tells you they talk about the book and not about the movie, hence dissapointment upon arrival. The movie hotel is actually in Oregon :(

A bucket list must. It was amazing. So beautiful, and such history.
Worst stay of our lives! First room, tub and sink were both plugged. They made us wait until they went to the store to get drain cleaner. 3 men in and out of our room, then moved us to another room. That bed was a king size on a twin platform so the bed dipped on both sides. No change that time, and no apologies. Food was tasteless, coffee cold even after telling the waiter. Waited 1/2 hour for the check, the 1/2 hour to pay! Have traveled for years and received better service at Holiday Inn! Never will go back!!!
Amazing place! Was there in 2013 and took a tour and got several pictures of figures and children and something even brushed up on me as it was passing. Loved it there!
We stayed in room 217 over Labor Day weekend and loved our stay! No ghost experience though for us inside room 217 sadly :( Be forewarned that this is an old hotel that does not have A/C in the main building and the walls are very thin so you can hear conversations in the hallways and doors opening and closing. I advise bringing a white noise machine to help drown out noise and not visiting in the heat of the summer. We did the night ghost tour and had a blast.
