Lots of interesting history with this hotel. It's enormous, and needing a fair amount of maintenance.
We had a great time. Nice ride through the mountains.
Rude staff.... Kind of run down.... Dirt parking lot.... And the nerve to charge $6 for a warmish coors lite with a hot glass at the hotel bar. Not impressed at all. Was going to book weekend stay but not now. Too bad really..... I really wanted to like the place.
Fantastic experience. Touring this famous hotel and learning about its famous history, and famous rooms was awesome.
It was awesome sauce ! The kids loved the margaritas!
I thought it was really great to stay at a place like this it was spooky and old timey. I just enjoyed every minute of it.
Sad, sad, sad. The history is lost, but the "old" remains. From the tattered trim and siding to the thread-bare, filthy carpeting. None of the original furnishings or artwork remain (sold off with all of the charm, along the way). Now there are photocopies of artwork in frames and fake mirrors (who do they think they're fooling?). The rooms are drafty and you can hear everything. Shame on the owner, who obviously is cheap. The staff is unhappy and embarrassed.
My friends and I stayed 2 nights and loved it. We did the tour and we did catch some pretty interesting things on film. The only down fall was we didn't know there were suites built off of the main hotel and that is were we stayed. Next time we will make sure we are in the main hotel.
