The Pit offers some of the best barbecue in Raleigh. Set in a restored early 20th Century meatpacking warehouse, the restaurant carries on the North Carolina barbecue tradition by serving full-hog, pit-cooked pork, and other barbecue essentials. But The Pit is more than a generic barbecue restaurant: it combines the generous portions of classic meat-loving joints with some surprises. The pork is free-range, and guests can enjoy barbecued tofu, wines, cocktails, and a comprehensive list of bourbons.

my husband and i are from staten island, ny, we were driving back up from disney and decided to stop by being that the restaurant was feature on throw down with bobby flay. SO delicious! everything was great, from the sweet tea to the ribs to the hush puppies and apple pie. the staff was really great too and even gave us complimentary sweet potato pie for the remainder of our journey home.
The service was ok...my ribs came to the table cold 2 x. The mac and cheese was good...the candied yams like desert...my vodka iced tea was perfect...go back???....maybe
Asked for the hot banana pudding you'll be glad you did.
The Pit Authentic BBQ is the bomb digity! The fried chicken is excellent. You better come hungry cause you leaving full! #nojoke
We had Zach as our server tonight as a 7 top, & he did an exceptional job! He informed us it was his first night out of training but, literally every question we had about the menu, he was able to answer, and we all absolutely loved our food selections when we went with his suggestion. We can't wait to come back, and have him as a server again! Thank you for a great night!
Food was ok, sweet potatoe fries needed a sweet component like honey, cinnamon, or brown sugar. But I definitely had a problem with the sanitation being a 92.0 and quite hidden from the public eye! Had I seen this before hand, I would've left!
So worth the drive from Eastover, NC!!! Amazing!!!
