I was lucky enough to complete my 2nd internship for my Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at The New Jewish Home, Manhattan. I was given fantastic guidance by the seasoned SLPs at the facility, and I was challenged and encouraged to think critically. In addition, I was given the opportunity to work with patients given hands on and hands off supervision. I am excited to take valuable lessons I learned at NJH with me, and apply that knowledge to my work throughout my professional career as an SLP.
This summer, I was given the amazing opportunity to be an intern in the Speech, Language, and Swallowing department at The New Jewish Home. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for this experience. I learned so much from the Speech-Language Pathologists and the residents I was privileged to work with. The department works tirelessly to take care of the residents at the facility and to mentor future SLPs. I am grateful to the SLPs for encouraging and mentoring me throughout this semester. I will take this experience with... read more
The nurses aren't attentive at all. I have asked several times for a supervisor and no one will provide me with a name. When I ask for a supervisor, I get ignored. This is why I am posting this information on social media. My grandmother has not been given a bath for days. No one has given me an answer as to why not. They have not even apologizing for not providing a bath. If they atleast try to fix this issue, I wouldn't be so upset . When calling a nurse, they take over 30 minutes to see the patient. We assumed this place ... read more
I came to a tour with my son and of the three choices that I had set up. This was placed at the top of the best, because I saw how involved and busy the staff of nursing and therapist were. I was showed the rooms and I liked that they were clean and had a nice hospital setting. I also liked the beautiful garden, fish pond, and tables for social activities. They have a cafe, library, and an auditorium for special events. The bottom of it is that I came here really really ill from my extensive surgery and I have been taken car... read more
My 98-year-old Mom is a resident of Small House 1 in Mamaroneck, NY. We always take her home for the holidays. When last we had her for Easter 2016, after 4 hours she said to the whole family .... " I had a lovely time but would really like to go back HOME now!" My sister and I were delighted and comforted to know that she considers the Small House her home and its residents and staff her family!
My mother is here now for rehab after a stroke. I am very happy with how she is being cared for. Everyone so far, from the doctors to the aides, has been attentive, caring, patient, and kind. She is in Friedman 2 Cardio Rehab unit, which is clean and bustling. I don't understand why this place gets bad reviews. I suppose everyone's experience is different. Of course a place that is populated with elderly, often ill, people, is not going to be the cheeriest place on earth, but when I hear about other places in Manhattan, such... read more
After almost a year of concern and stress for my mom - she is finally in the best place possible! Sarah Neuman in Westchester. The professionalism, care and loving kindness my mother is now getting allows me to relax and know that she is great hands. I get calls and updates regularly. My mom is becoming engaged and participating in activities which she was not doing in her previous facility. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.
I was an intern with the CardioPulmonary Program last summer, and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The staff I worked with was fantastic and very knowledgable. They cared for their patient exceptionally, and I really valued. I also volunteered for New Jewish Home over winter, and even though I was with a completely different staff, and I wasn't with the people who perform bedside care like I was during the summer, it was still a great experience. It is nice to know that they people in the offices, who you may not see so often ... read more
