While I believe that the staff is trying, the place is overwhelmed. Unless you are able to be there as an advocate for your loved one, this is not necessarily the best place to be.

I worked here as a volunteer chaplain for 6 months while I was completing my Master's Degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from New York Theological Seminary. Although I now live in North Carolina, I still stop by to see patients and staff, and participate in the Protestant service whenever I'm in NYC!. I realize nursing homes as a whole have a terrible reputation (some deservedly so! ), but NJH is a first -rate facility.
Progressive, compassionate, & innovative are the words I would use to describe The New Jewish Home.
I am so impressed with the staff at NJH. When I first arrived here from an accident and couldn't walk at all and all my hope was Lost, I didn't think I would ever be where I am today. The CNA staff took great care of me and assured that all my needs were met. The OT and the PT simply the best. The staff motivated me to gain my independence back. My experience at the New Jewish Home has been excellent. I came in after having a surgery and multi-layers of injuries. My PT/OT therapists were excellent. All of the staff from the top- administration, finance, doctors , nurses, therapists, cna's, housekeeping, and all other staff have been wonderful.
