We visited on the 27th Aug, so mid week whilst staying in the village for a few days, for a special occasion. The barman greeted us & was very polite, as was the waitress. The food was very tasty & well presented. Unfortunately, whilst the one barman & one waitress worked incredibly hard, the service was very slow, not through lack of effort, but a clear shortage of staff. A lovely hotel and restaurant. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient in both the hotel and the restaurant; nothing was too much trouble.
Sadly this wasn’t a very good experience. We were there for a lovely meal for two to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately we had to share the restaurant with a very large table (18-20 people perhaps). With no soft furnishings it was so noisy we just couldn’t hear each other across our table. There was nowhere else that we could be seated away from the noise so our evening was spoiled.
