The Kings Contrivance Restaurant is located on what was a 370-acre farm granted in 1730 by The Lord Baltimore to The Reverend James Macgill. A stately Federal Period mansion was built on the present site. It burned to the ground and was rebuilt in the late 1890's. The residence remained in the Macgill family until the 1960's, when it was converted into its present form as a fine dining restaurant. Richard and his staff were fabulous to work with from the initial meeting to plan a large family celebration. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive, yet not bothersome. The perfect place in Howard County for a family event!
A wonderful restaurant in a beautiful setting! Always a pleasure to dine there. The cuisine is excellent, professionally served, and accompanied with the best (not expensive) wines. It is truly a marvel that on holidays like Easter, Mothers Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas the staff serve more than 800 meals and each one is perfectly prepared. A truly great place to dine with friends and family!

I love this iconic Columbia Landmark. It has consistently good food and service, with classic ambiance.
