The Kings Contrivance Restaurant is located on what was a 370-acre farm granted in 1730 by The Lord Baltimore to The Reverend James Macgill. A stately Federal Period mansion was built on the present site. It burned to the ground and was rebuilt in the late 1890's. The residence remained in the Macgill family until the 1960's, when it was converted into its present form as a fine dining restaurant. This restaurant is definitely a 6 star!! The food the service where they put us in the restaurant everything was perfect!! We asked to be in a quiet corner because we had a 23 month old so they gave us this really nice quiet room adjacent the restaurant. So when he got a little noisy we were much more relaxed knowing we weren't disturbing other people while they were dining! The is the one of the rudest restaurants that I ever been! There was an extra 15 $ charge without even informing the party for using their plates for a birthday cake. We paid them over 200 $ for their food and they wanted to charge for their small plates!! In fact they said, it was 2.50 $ per an empty plate!! When we asked them to see if they could waive the fee since we were not informed before our order, the waiter responded, " You should have asked us first to bring the cake in," which was very once again, VERY RUDE, cons... read more
