I stopped here for a cup of tea and a cake on the first day of my (hopefully successful) attempt to walk the Hebridean Way. Winds were gusting at 60km an hour and you pay for the gorgeous scenery with bogs that suck you in up to your knees. The glamorous sisters run the hotel - far from spurning my wet feet - welcomed me with the most delicious cake and coffee. And they gave me a hat because I needed one. And some shortbread for snacks. Lovely people, delicious food, unbeatable location.
Situated beside one of Barra's most beautiful beaches, at Tangasdale this modern boutique hotel is in quiet beautiful location. The staff are extremely approachable friendly and helpful. It is advisable to book for dinner and note that Barra is not over endowed with eating options. The breakfast is excellent but again it is best to book. There is a cosy bar and adjoining sitting lounge. Not overuse but a welcome stop on your journey.
