I really like this hotel, and would suggest it to anyone visiting from overseas as a good example of how things used to be done. The building is older and has all the quirkiness that comes with that. The room I had was reasonably spacious and well appointed, very clean, nothing to really pick fault with. Having visited here several times over recent years I was expecting the best. And I wasn’t disappointed, as each time I find something else I like. Mostly it’s the friendly staff, but the restaurant is definitely the high spot.
Just a short 3 night DBB stay but what a beautiful experience. Room overlooking the river was spacious with nothing overlooked, including our request for sheets and blankets. A fridge with some complimentary drinks and chocs and fruit on arrival. Staff were first class... lots of young people, some learning hospitality skills. Food at breakfast and dinner was faultless with a superb choice. We'd visit again if going to the area.
We had our second lunch here and the restaurant staff and manager were very pleasant. Only downside was my husband showed our gift voucher on his phone with all the details but the hotel receptionist needed the actual email which my daughter sent to me with the voucher attached. This had a personal message to me for my birthday and maybe I didn't want anyone else to see it.... It was unnecessary and we felt disbelieved. She could have easily extracted the voucher number from my husband's screen.
Just returned from few days in this fantastic hotel . Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We were a large group and everyone was treated like an individual. Manager came out to bus and thanked us for coming . What a lovely touch and well accepted by all. Will definitely be back .
