We broke down at about 6PM in Welshpool in the snow, and as the RAC were hopeless, we decided to have supper and stay the night in the Goat in the centre of Welshpool, which was one of the more charming romantic lovely things I've done in my life. It had a lovely open fire, delicious food, welcoming host, hostess, and staff, and we felt rather like we were in something between Nania and Dick Turpin.
