Don't bother if you're not a local, pretty much the classic awkward silence when walking in and stared at by everyone. Not great drinks choices and mucky glasses. Other than that lovely old pub in a nice location...
Thought I'd walked into someone's front room and felt as welcomed as a trespasser. The bar - today - was the access gap for staff so no chance of seeing what was on offer until, headmaster-to-pupil-like I was informed the choices were on the nearby blackboard. The pint of Theakston's was bang on. It helps if you like cats because the place is overridden with them (you can smell them if you can't see them). Trying times for the pub trade; funny how some manage to survive.
Glad to see it still thriving. A blast from the past for me.
