As a replica of Bent's Fort, it's a cultural crossroads on the historic Santa Fe Trail. This area institution, which has been reviewed in the New York Times, serves up southwestern fare to everyone from lounging locals to heads of state including President Clinton during 1997's economic summit. Scrumptious servings of buffalo and elk tantalize the tongue. More traditional fare like salmon, filet mignon and even a vegetarian plate is also available. Open Monday to Friday at 5:30pm and at 5:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

RecommendedThe Fort has been around since the early 60’s. It’s a place you should go at least once, or take someone who is not from here. Elk, quail, bison are all standards on the menu. There is an extensive wine list, too.

I love the Fort. I was extremely upset though with my last visit. my husband and I visit the Fort 3-4 times a year. We specifically go for the Buffalo prime rib which was not offered on the 14th bcz of Valentines Day. No where on the website did it say that the prime rib was not going to be available or we would have picked another day to go. So disappointing when you specifically go for a meal and it's not available because the menu changed for a "holiday"

Great food and ambiance. Blue cheese dressing phenomenal. Had buffalo, elk, quail and all was great but the elk was superb. Highly recommend!
