Located downtown near the University of Alabama-Birmingham and its medical center, the Fish Market is the cheapest and possibly the best seafood restaurant in Birmingham. The owners are from Greece, so the self-service dining area is decorated with Greek photos and artwork. There is a small grocery area and of course, a fish market. The food is fresh, and the portions large. Be prepared for a crowd at any given time; this place is an unbeatable value and that's a well-known fact.

I enjoyed the atmosphere but the service was not so good. The ranch dressing was watery, the Greek rice had too much lemon in it, the shrimp tacos were slightly soggy.
RecommendedWe had lunch on 9/30. It was great! We both had the trout almondine--I had the greek salad and my friend had greek potatoes and slaw with John's dressing. It was all delicious!!! Can't wait to go back!

Met my dad in birmingham and the hotel he's staying in recommended this place and we could not have chosen better. It was our waitresses first night, and she was clearly nervous but she was sweet and personable. The menu is HUGE but we managed to navigate it and order the buffalo shrimp appetizer. It was amazing and the half pound of shrimp was more than enough for the two of us. Awesome!!! Loved the building and the atmosphere. Our waitress, Hannah, was fantastic. The food was very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious, and the portions are huge! We will definitely be coming back next time we're in Birmingham.

Enjoyed lunch today at the Fish Market. Had monk fish with Greek salad also had red snapper fillets. Excellent food and service was outstanding! And we also spent a few minutes chatting with George!. We usually eat here after our doctor visits at Kirklin Clinic.
