Choose somewhere else! Location and our valet attendant were the ONLY positives here. Our pricey, phone booth size room provided ZERO amenities even charging for in-room use of coffee/tea machine. Walls are paper thin and noises from heater were loud and disruptive to say the least, despite manager's explanation that, "it's an old hotel. It happens everywhere." Very disappointing experience.
We just 5 nights in NYC at the Empire & really enjoyed the service, great location, gorgeous rooftop lounge with spectacular views a, incredible food & service! The rooms are small, which is typical for NYC hotels. The hotel is a little outdated and rooms are in some need of TLC, but even with that, I would recommend the hotel overall. The biggest negative would be the very small bathrooms with NO counter space for blow dryer, etc. I would rate it a 3.5 if that was an option.
Smooth check in ... room upgraded .... staff so helpful only downside no wifi in room.... bar and lobby so cosy
The Kay card to my room lost its code 5 times in a row. I asked for it to be fixed every time and the last time I was blatantly lied to by the front desk. The front desk got into an argument with me and not once owned that it was not acceptable that the problem was not fixed. I stayed on the 6th floor and every time I had to go up to my room twice just to get into it. Add to this mould in the bathroom and an air conditioner that did not work and I would recommend this hotel.
Small room with noisy heat unit at NY prices - and while most hotels have free in-room coffee the Empire charges you 3 bucks for a cup of Keurig. Great location however.
Great location, beautiful views! Clean rooms and helpful service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in New York City.
