Great New Year’s Eve celebration at the iconic hotel.
For the holiday, my family took a trip to Denver and stayed in the Brown Palace. The evening we checked in, I was alone on an elevator with a bellhop of the hotel (one that helped us bring luggage to our room early in the day) and he sexually harassed me. Initially, we were accompanied by another hotel guest on the elevator. When she exited, the minute the doors closed, he said to me “I’ve never been alone with such a hot woman before. Growing up in the area I was beyond excited to stay at the hotel and attend a wedding. Overall I was unimpressed. The staff was snooty, unhelpful and unaccommodating. The rooms are average at best. Dated, somewhat dirty and nothing better than a Holiday Inn. That being said It’s a beautiful historic hotel and you don’t have to be a guest to enjoy the beauty, fantastic afternoon tea or Sunday brunch. A guest was sexually harassed by a bellboy. They did not take her complaint seriously. In this day and age shocking they did not even write down what happened and claimed it was a corporate issue.
Wonderful experience! Because of a previous health problem, my husband and I celebrated our 45th & 46th wedding anniversary as well as Christmas by spending a week at The Brown Palace. I purchased a book in the coffee shop that highlighted “The Ladies of the Brown” and was able to truly understand the wonderful history of this beautiful and well maintained historic property.
