The Bitter End

4.4

About this business

Founded in 1961, the Bitter End is New York's oldest rock club. There is no food served here, so you do not have to worry about the sounds of tinkling glasses and quaking crockery distracting the likes of Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan. Over the years, a number of big name comedians have performed here as well, including Woody Allen, George Carlin and Joan Rivers. A brick wall forms the backdrop for all these acts, including many you may not have heard about.

It's always great to see my kid and all the other kids take part at a place with so much history!

Great memories when we were 17 listening to the bands at The Bitter End. Today, over 20, I mean 30, oh crap it’s 40 years later - I was overjoyed to watch and listen to my kid play “So What” by Miles Davis on that very stage. Thx for the memories then and now.

This place sucks, cover fee on top of two drink minimum plus its smells bad inside and waitresses are rude.

Great space, nice staff. The set by Andrea Sears was touching, hilarious, thought-provoking. The acoustics were great for her style.

You can find some good music here if you're lucky. Prices are basically what you can expect from a Greenwich Village bar. The service is good. The lady I think is in charge is the best, she laughed with me about a bad group that performed tonight telling me "Sometimes you have to take the good AND the bad" while a bunch of people was positively impressed by all that yelling over the drums that were covering everything else. Probably those people were relatives of the musicians ahah - Except for this one band the other groups... read more
