We were surprised to be asked to settle our room bill - £304 for 2 nights inc breakfast - the moment we arrived in reception before even being shown our room. In good faith we settled the bill. The way to the room was through the old building which smelled of damp covered over with air freshener products - not pleasant. Fire doors were covered in cobwebs and detritus on carpet. My family and I enjoyed a very good Saturday lunch here this weekend. The service was swift. The menu was varied, but not to complicated and the food itself was very good. All serve piping hot and tasting delicious! Washed down by a pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord, life gets no better. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Went for a meal here, not to stay in the hotel. Happy to report that it was a lot better than the last visit 2 years ago. The beer is nice, although maybe a bit variable. The food was good, but needed a bit more heating, which was done. But the service was great, and the menu variety really good, imaginative dishes are offered, lots of options too. The prices are very reasonable for both beer and food.
