History Established in 1980. Converted out of a local retired bank in historic Carthage, the Texas Tea Room was first established as a community-volunteered kitchen that served sandwiches and salads during lunch hour. Over time, the business grew and needed a full-time staff to accommodate the increased demand from locals, which is what made the Texas Tea Room the popular restaurant it is today.

The chicken salad on nut bread was delicious. Our little waitress was a hoot. Great place awesome service. Will be back soon!
What a pleasant surprise. Riding through on our motorcycles yesterday and stopped to ask a local if there was a good cafe in town. Without skipping a beat he said "The Texas Tea Room", and that it was the best place in town. He was right.
