History Established in 1980. Converted out of a local retired bank in historic Carthage, the Texas Tea Room was first established as a community-volunteered kitchen that served sandwiches and salads during lunch hour. Over time, the business grew and needed a full-time staff to accommodate the increased demand from locals, which is what made the Texas Tea Room the popular restaurant it is today.

My two teenage sons and I stopped for lunch at The Texas Tea Room a couple of weeks ago while in town doing some research on my 4th-great-grandfather, who is the "founder" of Carthage -- historical marker right across the street from the restaurant. Our family always enjoys eating here! The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly!! We rented the upstairs and had our wedding reception there. We were allowed to decorate how we wanted and be creative!! We had the upstairs at capacity and everyone seemed so comfortable!! It was an intimate setting and everything, along with food served was so very good!!! I would recommend this place 10/10 times!!!! We give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
