History Established in 1980. Converted out of a local retired bank in historic Carthage, the Texas Tea Room was first established as a community-volunteered kitchen that served sandwiches and salads during lunch hour. Over time, the business grew and needed a full-time staff to accommodate the increased demand from locals, which is what made the Texas Tea Room the popular restaurant it is today.

Everything was very good. Our service was pretty good too. My only complaint, which was a real bummer, is that our server was eating behind the counter with his hands and then Placed my bread on my plate without washing his hands. It's kinda gross to watch the server eat and handle food in the prep area.
It was a pleasant surprise to find a great restaurant here. I liked it so much I gave the waitress a t-shirt.
The food and atmosphere here is unique! My favorite is the beef medallions with grilled zucchini and smashed potatoes. Everything is reasonably priced. The service is quick; easy to get in and out for lunch. If you are looking for a great lunch and something different, try The Texas Tea Room. This would be the perfect place to take clients you would like to impress for lunch.
