History Established in 1980. Converted out of a local retired bank in historic Carthage, the Texas Tea Room was first established as a community-volunteered kitchen that served sandwiches and salads during lunch hour. Over time, the business grew and needed a full-time staff to accommodate the increased demand from locals, which is what made the Texas Tea Room the popular restaurant it is today.

Unique southern comfort food with a hip atmosphere
Excellent food and good service, you cannot do better in Carthage. I stopped in for lunch and was immediately happy with my choice. Shrimp and grits are especially popular.
Sign up & they’ll text you their specials during the week! Quaint inside an old bank on the town square. Service can be slow, but welcome me to East Texas. 😊 We eat her a couple of times a month. 👍
Small town atmosphere and the service and food was great
