History Established in 1980. Converted out of a local retired bank in historic Carthage, the Texas Tea Room was first established as a community-volunteered kitchen that served sandwiches and salads during lunch hour. Over time, the business grew and needed a full-time staff to accommodate the increased demand from locals, which is what made the Texas Tea Room the popular restaurant it is today.

RecommendedEvacuated from Louisiana for Hurricane Delta and found this fantastic place for lunch! Cajun people know good food...and this was great food! Black pepper whiskey beef medallions were fantastic!
Besides the slow service, they can hardly get your order right. Now, the food is great. I love their food. The service on the other hand.. not so great. Today I placed a Togo order.. ordered one special and a child’s meal. The special happen to tacos with no tomatoes. Got home, I had tacos with no tortillas and extra tomatoes 🙄 sure, I should’ve checked before I left the restaurant but I didn’t this time. I was so excited to try the Texas Tea Room for the first time after my friends and family recommended them. I was so disappointed when I got there. I've never seen such unfriendly and poorly trained staff. No one greeted me as I walked in, menus were thrown infront of me without speaking a word to me, my drink was never refilled nor did the server check on us while we were there. The food was decent but nothing special.
