What a terrible experience!!!!! – The service was terrible and the food was marginal at best. The worst part was that it took 40 minutes just for them to bring us our bill and then another 20 minutes to run our credit card. We had a large group so gratuity was added to our bill. By no means did the service warrant a 20% tip. To top it off, the valet asked me for a bigger tip since it was after 10 pm when we left. I will never go back.
Makes you wonder... – If this place is anywhere near as bad as some reiewers have said, why do you suppose there's a two-hour wait? Wouldn't people get wise eventually? My experience - fun, friendly, accomodating. Oopa!
GROSS – The only good thing I had there was the hummus they bring you to grind up yourself. That was very tasty and creative. However, I was very dissapointed after that. My food was so bad it was literally inedible, and the service was terrible. I guess it might be ok to come here if you are interested in partying with your friends, but don't expect edible food or good drinks. I was hoping for something better, but unfortunately I have to give this place a big thumbs down...
Not Good! – My boyfriend and I went to Taverna Plaka after a friend recommended we go. It was a terrible experience! The back room was practically empty and we still had to flag down our waiter. The food was not good at all and over priced. I say thumbs down on Taverna Plaka.
Still no Good Greek Restaraunts in Town – While the Taverna has a "fun" atmosphere, it's more of a club than a restaurant. The problem comes when they try to merge the two. What you get is no available seats, poor and unwelcoming service, and the food is sub-par. Reservations don't mean anything, and you wait an additional 1.5 hours at the bar. People waiting at the tables for service are constantly appealing to the manager, who appeases those complaining by buying shots. The food sounds far better on the menu than it tastes... read more
Don't listen to the bad reviews! – Plaka's fame is for after 11, when the front room is alive w/ folks from all over. music is a mix from the Middle East, India, Greece, & Latin America.back room is Latin music mixed w/ Brazilian & house.I love the place b/c the atmosphere is so non-american.People dont come here to get trashed & hook up like they do at american clubs. Here the mindset is to be with friends, blow off some steam after a long work week, etc. different mentality, atmosphere, & mindset...& a different kind of fun... read more
Skip it! – Went to Taverna for the beginning of my friend's bachelorette party. I was HIGHLY disappointed with this place. Maybe it was that my expectations were set high by a friend that had recommended it, but whatever it was, I will never go back nor tell anyone to try it out. My reservation was made well in advance and we were not seated until about an hour after the reservation. We were seated in the outdoor area, in a corner where we could not even try to enjoy the atmosphere. The belly dancers were too skinny and had ... read more
Playful Greek tavern brings belly dancing and decent small plates to Cheshire Bridge. – The Scene Neighborhood types in the early evening give way to young Buckhead scenesters as the night progresses. Patrons sporting sleek hair, high heels and silky shirts sip martinis from the $6 menu on either of two patios or at the bar. Faux columns hint at Hellenic inspiration. Nightly belly dancing keeps a buzz going, but loud Cheshire Bridge Road traffic reminds you that the Aegean is far away. The Food The usual Greek favorites are ... read more
AVOID if you value your time and palate – Ear-splitting music played in an atmosphere-less room paired with really bad food and gratuitous bell-dancing? Yuck. A complete waste of time. My date and I left after the grisly and greasy sausage appetizer. There are so many other great restaurants in Atlanta to choose from. Avoid this one.
