I had a fabulous time! The food was wonderful and the experience exciting! I met the new managers and credit them for the great time.
Cell phone stolen from table – I was so excited to try a new restaurant and love Greek food. So many signs pointed to what was to be the worst restaurant experience I've had in Atlanta. The bartender was gratuitously rude as we waited to be seated. We asked to see a drink list and he turned his back. Asked a couple minutes later assuming he didn't hear and his response: you'll get a menu when you get a menu. We ordered the family style meal and it was not nearly enough food for 7 people. Service was TERRIBLE!!!!!! – We anticipated a great food experience. The only thing enjoyable was the atmostphere and entertainment. We ordered the Chef's meal which was extremely over priced for the amount of food you get. It's a sampler type meal served family style, and a good variety of dishes, but there were four and us and MAYBE enough for to serve two. The rice might have been ONE serving. Not the same as it used to be. – In reading the 2009 review a light bulb went off. Change of ownership!! Ah Hah! Finally an explanation. While the menu is the same, the portions and quality are not. As only one example, the gyro platter used to be HUGE, thick juicy portions of meat. Now they are small thin and dry. The steak is overcooked and oversalted. Great food- awesome entertainment- date night!! – SO...Surprised someone hasn't posted a review for Taverna Plaka in awhile...this place is awesome- took a date here and it was really good food (you make the hummus at the table!) and the belly dancing was sweet (good distraction/fun for a 1st date) although it was KINDA loud- suggest maybe sitting on the patio for any intense conversations. Overall, great experience wanted to share since it didn't look like anyone had posted a review in awhile. WIll definitely be back!
Not sure if we'll go back – After reading, from another reviewer, that this restaurant has recently become newly owned/operated, it may explain the poor experience we had last time we dined at Taverna Plaka. We are always on the search for new, authentic Greek food and have usually been pleased with Taverna Plaka for the past several years. Great Food and Festive Entertainment!!!! – I arranged a surprise party for a group of 30 people and this restaurant was the best choice for the mix of people that attended! They provided great service, with a friendly waitress that was very accomodating to each individuals needs. Not one person at my table had any complaints or mischarges on thier bills. Best Greek in Atlanta – Love this place! Great for dates or large groups! Food is tasty. Only complaint is you have to valet & it can get really busy so may limit the service
Fantasic Night for a Large Group! – I recently organized a party for forty people in the private room. The manager could not have been more accomodating and helpful. The servers and bartenders were an absolute joy, and the food was delicious. Many guests were unfamiliar with Greek food and had fun mashing their own hummus.
