Varying Experiences – I have been to Taverna Plaka a total of 4 times and have had widely different experiences each time. The first two times I went the experience was great. The food was excellent and so was the service. The third time I went was with a large group for a friend's birthday. My experience that time was absolutely terrible. The waitress was rude and most of the dishes she brought out were incorrect. She gave us two plates of one item when we had only ordered one. Went for a Birthday – I went to TP last night for my friend's bday. I had read the reviews on here before and was afraid our service would be bad. I agree that it was sporadic, but our waitress came around pretty often and seemed like she was having a good time. Not bad! – This is my second time at TP, the first time I wasnt sure Id come back.. although the service was attentive and friendly, the food.. well.. it was just .. ok.. I landed up going there again this week and the food this time was much much better!! did they change the chef???? Since I come from that part of the world.. What a shame! – We have been to Taverna Plaka a number of times on trips to Atlanta. We live in a town that doesn't have decent Greek food, and TP never failed to please...until last night. It was our one year wedding anniversary and we chose TP because we'd loved it so much before. The first disappointment was that the bar didn't have any Tsiporo, which my husband loves. Very Entertaining – First time to Taverna and I will be back. We didn?t have a reservation, but were seated promptly given there were only two of us. Great place for parties and large groups. Bring singles to tip the belly dancers. Throw caution to the wind and dance on the tables. The food was good. However, according to my date the menu selection and the portions have gotten smaller. Great service.
Go Greek – Plaka is a great place for a group dinner. Enjoy decent food, delicious cucumber martinis, and bellydancers for a decent price. I once had a rude server but otherwise good experiences.
Love the hair, love the purse, love the shoes...love everything! – This place has energy! I had my birthday party here last year and it was a riot...From the belly dancing to the dancing ala "hava nagela" style, this was a place to have a ton of fun.
Fun dining experience – Taverna was accomodating of our large group in terms of seating us at a long table set apart from most of the other diners. The tapas menu had a decent variety of reasonably priced traditional greek fare from salads to flaming cheese. The belly dancers were entertaining and the entire staff participated in the fun. The only thing that could be improved was the service which was a little slow and sporadic.
Best Greek! – This is a great place!!! The food is outstanding. We get the family meal every time we go here. It's a great place for big parties as well.
