Enjoy a little piece of Pan-Fried history when you dine at Stroud's! The year was 1933. Prohibition had just been repealed, we were between two World Wars and Stroud's Restaurant was built. Stroud's started as a BBQ restaurant by Guy and Helen Stroud on the county line at 85th and Troost. The road house remained a BBQ restaurant until World War II. My wife and I visited tonight for our 31st Anniversary. We have celebrated our anniversary at other area restaurants, but in all honesty, I could not imagine any place better. We dearly love the chicken, of course, but tonight, I had the Hamburger Steak; you did an Excellent job with this meal, for I compared it to the hamburger steak my Mom made in my youth! Ashley Davis went above-and-beyond in helping us, she took our picture in our booth. she is a definite credit to your restaurant!
Grandma don't have nothing on the fried chicken there! Sorry Grandma
The service was excellent but the food was just okay, except the cinnamon rolls were wonderful. The potatoes were very watered down.
We personally 'much' prefer the North location best & in all the years we've been going there we've never had bad food or service!!! And the scenery alone makes it even more more worth it, especially watching the swans on the lake & the wild life in the yard!!! The place is absolutely beautiful w/ a old small school, old church, wedding chapel where lots of people get married, old museum & all kinds of stuff to see!!! Spent a lot of cash on carry out and couldn't even consume the over cooked wings. Horrible horrible horrible. Stay away and shut this restaurant and all their locations down.
