Enjoy a little piece of Pan-Fried history when you dine at Stroud's! The year was 1933. Prohibition had just been repealed, we were between two World Wars and Stroud's Restaurant was built. Stroud's started as a BBQ restaurant by Guy and Helen Stroud on the county line at 85th and Troost. The road house remained a BBQ restaurant until World War II. I have been eating at Strouds for well over 30 years, going back to the first location off of 435. The food is consistently excellent but there is a remarkable difference in the wait staff in Overland Park and this store. We will not be back to Fairway, as a result of the service, but will continue to patronize Overland Park regularly where the staff is gracious and very accommodating. Strouds chicken dinners is reminiscent of grandmother’s kitchen, pan fried deliciousness!

Giving two stars only because the food was outstanding, as always. Service didn’t deserve any. We waited about 10 minutes at the door before anyone even noticed we were there. After a discussion with the server, and being told I could not share any of my husband’s sides if I only ordered chicken, we ordered two full meals. After receiving our food, with one small bowl of each side which was the same as if for just one person, she never returned. Never offered to fill the sides, drinks or anything. The fried chicken and Chicken Fried Chicken was great love the sides. The service was good we had a large party. We had reservations and it was ready when we got there. There was plenty of leftovers to take home,
