I understand having strict visitor policies because of Covid. But theyve taken it to the absolute extreme. My father was admitted Sunday for a heart attack. Naturally i rushed there as quick as i could. I was met at the front entrance by the rudest staff imaginable. They said hes only allowed one designated visitor his ENTIRE stay. Now hes about to have open heart surgery and none of his children are allowed to visit him before a surgery that they arent even sure he will make it through. I know that this might sound petty because of the money involved. But for me, this is not about money. It’s about patient autonomy and consent. I will NEVER go to Stormont Vail again, if I have any choice in the matter. I received a hospital bill for some blood testing that was performed. I asked for an itemized list of charges and realized that they had charged me 138$ for a serum pregnancy test. I realize that pregnancy tests are often required at hospitals for legal reasons, but the ONLY treatment I received at the hospit... read more

I broke my wrist on the last day of March and was transported by ambulance to Stormont Vail ER that afternoon. I was treated with gentleness and kindness from the time I got there until I was discharged the following day. Many thanks to all the staff and Dr. Poole. Wonderful people!
This is the ONLY hospital I will ever go to in Topeka. They know their stuff. Great staff & they actually listen to their patients.
