Until Dr. Berklalcy destroyed two of my natural teeth during a completely different procedure than what we had discussed, I had the highest regard for him and his office staff. Now no one is willing to take responsibility for this fiasco and I blew $ 4,000 for braces, spent almost 2 years in orthodontic ware only to realize after the fact that my Dentist did the procedure he wanted and not the one I requested. The hygenist tried to use the same air/water tip in my mouth that was just used on a previous patient. When I asked the hygenist about it she said "well i wiped it off". I had to demand a new one. They did not sterlize properly or use barriers. Also, the office personnel were RUDE!!!
Dr. Berklacy is one of the most personable dentists I've ever visited! He is what keeps me going back to his practice. The dental assistants, too, are quite pleasant and professional, (non-lecturing!). The cost of the procedures, however, have caused more pain than anything. The only other factor that I would change is front of the house management of the practice. Understandably they are a busy practice, with Dr. Berklacy being the only dentist, yet I find 4 visits @ 2 hours plus per visit for a root canal not very efficien... read more
This is the worst Dentist I have ever used, he makes the patient and his hired help nervous with awful bedside manners in the middle of working on your teeth (it is very wierd to see him giving cross looks at the hygenist as he is working on you). The last cavity filled was done in such haste that he did not give the girl time to wet down my tooth or clear my mouth regularly, while drilling my teeth were smoking (his philosophy is "screw it, he is on novacain and can't feel it anyway), even so it is very unprofessional. Dr. Berklacy is one of the best medical professionals I have ever dealt with. He really makes an effort to become familiar with the patients work, family, etc. His office is very clean and friendly. He is well trained and experienced. Only complaint: appointments can be lengthy so anticipate waiting.
There were apparently too many patients scheduled as the entire process of taking x-rays took two hours. I waited in the chair for 45 minutes before he came to tell someone else what needed to be done, and 30 minutes longer to get his assessment of my situation.
Never completed my root canal and wanted to put a crown on. The tooth was still swollen and draining. Bedside manner leaves something to be desired as well.
The doctor has some work to do on his manners. He tends to work quickly but sometimes misses obvious problems. He also tends to allow the hygienist to do all the prep work, then he comes and does his work and leaves without ever saying anything. It would be nice if he could sit and talk a minute. Also, I broke a tooth over the weekend and he is out of town all week and doesn't have another dentist to support his patients.
