A pleasant trip. Worth an hour or two here. I would have liked to try the cream tea in the train carriage. I took the ride for £10. I'd say that was a little expensive, but if you take in the museum and walking around (I was not expecting the WW2 stuff), it is reasonable as a package and helps keep the place going. There were plenty of volunteers around, it's great to see so many people have a passion to keep this bit of history going.

We stopped at the Somerset and Dorset Railway Heritage Trust while passing through and are really glad we did. We spent about 50 minutes walking the platform, watching an engine arrive, visiting the shop and then heading into the museum just before closing. A big thank you to the two gents in the museum who, despite being only 20 minutes from closing, took the time to talk with us and share their stories — their passion and knowledge really brought everything to life. Great little railway - ideal for spending a couple of hours wallowing in nostalgia. Really friendly volunteers add to the pleasant experience. No steam at present (they hope to have a steamer fairly soon), but more than made up for with a proper DMU, and, of course, the Wickham Trolley.

Thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to maintain this gem of a place. So much history being preserved. A really lovely place to visit as.well as the train ride!
