From powerless to Self-Empowered. Thank you! This program works and truly saved my life! SMART works and truly empowers individuals in a dark place to make a change for the positive. SMART is not judgmental and does not use demeaning labels- The past is the past and I no longer have to dwell in that place thanks to the tools taught to me here!
I am so relieved that I found SMART Recovery. AA and NA never worked for me in the past and now I finally feel like I connect with something to work on my recovery and past addiction issues.
It is the most empowering program that I have had the blessing to have experienced. I came into SMART via their Family & Friends program (akin to Alanon), and although the message of "detach with love" is the same, SMART told me HOW TO. It wasn't anecdotal, or slogan chants. It was a program that told me how to behave and have a rich life, with or without my loved one, my choice. I became a facilitator because I think this empowerment is so healthy and people need a choice.
I love SMART. It’s helping so many people all over the world.
In the VA rehab program we do not have a trained facilitator to run the meetings or the funds to buy the lititure it's a 21 day rehab but for some it is possible to add another week on. Out of the 21 day it's easy to finish the workbook 3 to 4 times within that time frame. How hard will it be to get a facilitator to visit the VAMC that have this program in place. I'm biased by seeing all of the good it has done for the attendees in Madison WI where I started our first local SR (then RR) meeting in 1991, and for my clients. But I hope every knows that they have a Choice about where to find help and how to change harmful habits.
