About this business

However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. The village trustees purchased the land and opened it up to fishing, and a launch was put into place. Through the efforts of many municipalities the river was cleaned to the point where it attracted fishermen from all over the north... read more

My husband and I are locals and always tell people to come to the Silo. We went today for our first time of the season, our food was not at the standard it usually is. The Haystack was as great as was remembered, when I visited on Sunday. It will not officially be open till May, but everything from hot dogs to sweet fries was terrific.Bring on the summer!

I ate my haystack and frigid onion rings while washing it down with the bitter taste of the ass... read more

Business response:

Hi Matthew, Ouch. Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your visit last night, Did you take your concerns to the manager on duty while you were at the restaurant? We always appreciate being given the opportunity to improve on our shortcomings. As you mentioned, we are not open right now and are in the process of training our new staff so a 2 star rating is a bit painful considering. We do appreciate your feedback, and thank you for stopping in during our staff orientation and hope you will visit again once we are open in a few wee... read more
