However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. Great place to take your family. My kids love it. There food is amazing,the staff is wonderful and the view is just gorgeous!!
My favorite summertime restaurant! So fun to spend the day down by the water eating ice cream and a haystack.
I always leave The Silo happy and full, the haystack is for sure one of my favorites but nothing beats the view!! If you've never been definitely check it out! Don't forget to head to the caboose after you eat for ice cream!!

If you visit Lewiston, your first stop should be The Silo. Locals and passers-through can all appreciate the beautiful open view of the Niagara River while having a delicious meal. When it gets darker be sure to grab some onion rings and watch arguably the most breathtaking sunset you'll ever see!
Boy do I love the silo. Nothing beats ordering ahead and arriving with a delicious burger waiting for me. On my short lunch break, I need to be quick and the silo sure gets its done. If I'm still hungry I make my way over to the ice cream caboose to grab a sweet treat for my ride back on a hot summers day. 5 stars? How about a hard 10. Cheers to you, Silo.
