However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. The village trustees purchased the land and opened it up to fishing, and a launch was put into place. Excited about being back at The Silo. This time we brought the kids. We've been telling them about this place since we were here last summer. Thanks Abbey for doing such a great job waiting on us!!
Never been there so tried the original haystack that I've seen so many pictures of .just a little miss leading from pictures to what you get when you order . You can't say original you have to say foot long but very good sandwich. Was worth the money and worth the wait. Seems reasonable priced . I live in Barker so a little drive for lunch but will definitely try to get back as much as I can.
The only bad thing I can say about this place is that it's not open all year round. I go through Haystack withdrawals in the winter months. Love this place.
Enjoy lunch my 1st time here happy I moved up here and will be stopping threw weekly to eat had ribeye and fry some and a awesome strawberry shake service was fast and food very good
Food was ok the Hamburger wasn't cooked all the way through pink in the middle. Ketchup dispenser was almost empty.....Needs some improving.
